Girls’ Team

Golden State Gymnastics has several different options for female athletes who wish to participate in the competitive arena.

Pre-Team
USAG JO Team
USAG XCEL Team

We offer both Developmental (Firecrackers) and Preteam (Hotshots) training groups for gymnasts to begin the road to competitive gymnastics. Once ready for team, we offer competitive options (USAG JO and USAG XCEL ) depending on each gymnast’s goals, outside interests, and family commitment. Both our teams have produced remarkable results at the State, Regional and National Levels. All team training groups are by invitation only.

GSG’s USAG team consists of levels 3 through 10 as well as TOPs/Pre-Elite. These athletes train 3-6 days and 12-24 hours per week depending on their level. Participation in this team is very demanding, very competitive, and requires a total family commitment. Participation at all scheduled competitions is mandatory, as is participation at supplementary scheduled activities.

GSG’s XCEL team is a Competitive Program governed by USA Gymnastics whose focus is athlete longevity through lesser training hours than elite-bound or JO (Junior Olympic) athletes.  XCEL is an optional program designed to run parallel to the compulsory USAG JO Program while allowing athletes the freedom to compete optional routines. These optional routines include individualized choreography and skill selection that are uniquely fitted to each athlete. The overall goal of XCEL is to offer a competitive gymnastics experience to a broad selection of athletes without requiring the same time commitment as the typical Junior Olympic compulsories. The XCEL season runs parallel to the SoCal Optional Season including a number of invitational competitions as well as a state and regional championship. Top athletes at the State level may be selected to represent Southern California as part of the State Team at Regional Championships.

Boys’ Team

GSG-Boys-Team-photoOur Boys Competitive Program starts with Preteam and progresses onto competitive training.  The program is designed to prepare boys for competitions in the USA Junior Olympic and Junior Elite Developmental Program. Focusing on skill development on all six men’s Olympic events, the boys practice a strict training plan focusing on both mental and physical discipline. Our team is by invitation only and a yearlong commitment to the training program is expected. Our Competitive Team Coaches are USA Gymnastics Professional Coaches and are highly educated with National and International experience and safety certification. The coaches develop a personalized training plan with each individual athlete to help them accomplish their competitive goals.
